The Manresa Museum presents the eMM2 space – Espai Memòries. Lapidary Warehouse, with the artistic installation “What the stones say the trees shut up”, by Jesús Galdón.
The space is located in the warehouse of the Museum of the Plaza de la Reforma and preserves the collection of stone elements of the Museum of Manresa mainly from the demolition of the Gothic and Baroque churches and convents of the city that is to do so in 1936 during the Civil War, in the midst of the revolutionary period. Fragments of sculptures, vault keys, sarcophagi, capitals, shafts and column bases, etc., make up this background.
The artist Jesús Galdón, through the installation “What the stones say, the trees shut up”, opens the lapidary collection of the Museu de Manresa to a transversal and contemporary look that challenges us to reflect on the origin, continuity and destruction of the local heritage, and at the same time, universal.
We invite you to discover the Museum’s warehouse on the second Sunday of each month through open days and guided tours.
