Historically, Castellgalí has consolidated its position as a crossroads, and is nowadays a passing place on the Camino Ignaciano (Ignatian Way).

Its strategic location has made it a crossroads for several civilisations, as can be seen in the Historical and Ethnological Museum. Thus, several vestiges of the Roman period can still be found in the Boades district, such as the sepulchre and the exedra. The castle of Castellgalí, for its part, also exemplifies this strategic importance, which can be visited on the Border Castles Route.
