Ruta del romànic XVII.2 – Pels Dominis dels senyors de Cardona

Route 17.2 – 28,9km – 597,9m (Valldeperes)

Cardona, a ducal town that has been gaining importance since Roman times for salt exploitation, is a town that preserves many important vestiges from the medieval period, such as the Graells Palace. However, the Collegiate Church of Sant Vicenç is, however, the undisputed landmark of this route. Consecrated in 1040, it is considered the masterpiece of the Lombard Romanesque in Catalonia and one of the most important at the moment in Europe, due to its perfection and structural complexity. Special mention should be made of the interior of the crypt, the mausoleums and the magnificent wrought iron work.

It is interesting to visit the parish church of Sant Miquel de Cardona, although it is not Romanesque but it is in transition to Gothic.
