Claret de Cavallers. Medieval nucleus sheltered in the North East of the municipality of Sant Mateu de Bages, on the stream that descends from Utgés and continues towards Coaner.
A small town that has its origins in a medieval castle, of which only a few remains remain, and which later led to two important farmhouses: Can Serra and Can Ferrer. Its church is remarkable, mostly from the 15th and 16th centuries and dedicated to Saint Peter. It houses three interesting altarpieces of Renaissance tradition and the first Baroque period.
The castle or fortified complex was linked to the castle of Castelltallat and did not have a definite term, but that of the church of Sant Pere de Claret, but the fact of being in an eccentric place gave it a certain defensive autonomy that is not known. if it was reduced to a fortification of the town center, or if there was a castle. The village is walled by the same houses that defend it and you can find some noble coats of arms as a sign of its past.
Perfect space to enjoy a bike tour or a leisurely stroll. Space in the process of reconstruction, with great charm and authenticity where the “La Petita granja de Claret” is also located.
