On the banks of the Llobregat river, Castellbell i el Vilar is the last fortress at the gateway to Manresa.

The entrance through the Pont Vell reflects the importance of the town, which, from above Castellbell Castle, was a strategic point for the defence of Montserrat and El Vallès. Castellbell i el Vilar is also home to exponents of Catalan Romanesque architecture, such as the churches of Sant Jaume and Sant Cristòfor, Treasures of Bages.

The importance of the river is evident in the industrial tradition of Bages, where several textile colonies inhabit the banks of the Llobregat. On a natural level, the town offers different routes, orienteering circuits, hiking or climbing in the meander of the Llobregat.
